Lake Wendouree House
Ballarat Victoria 2001
Site 695m²
Building Area 280m²
1 storey
—
Adjacent to the picturesque parkland and surrounds of Lake Wendouree, in the regional city of Ballarat, 100km west of Melbourne.
This house is an exercise of insertion in a garden of a single detached dwelling for a retiring couple in the grounds of a large residential block with established mature trees. No trees are proposed to be removed with the new house weaving its way around an existing Norfolk Island Pine, Oak and Elm trees with an open living space capturing views to Lake Wendouree beyond and the finishing line of the 1956 Olympic rowing course.
The planning layout of solid and void spaces allows for a variety of intimate experiences to be created with carefully constructed outlooks from living and sleeping areas.
